摘要:Subsonic and sonic jet flows are important elements of hydrodynamics which are
typical examples of elliptic Free boundary problems and have been studies
extensively since 1970's. Yet there are many outstanding problems to be solved
mathematically. In particular, when the ambient pressure of the jet flows are given in
advance and/or the ambient pressure corresponds to the sonic pressure, the free
boundary problems may have no variational structures and governing equation may
become degenerate at the free boundaries. In this talk, I will present some recent
progress to deal with these difficulties. The emphasize will be the formulation of the
jet problems, the well-posedness of the jet problems, the regularities of the jet flows,
and the geometrical shape and the location of the sonic points. This is a joint work
with Chunpeng Wang.
