主讲人简介：
Peter Beilharz教授，现任教于澳大利亚科廷大学，也是英国利兹大学客座教授和澳大利亚拉筹伯大学的名誉教授。Beilharz教授在社会学理论、文化研究、社会主义理论、工人运动发展史、文学批评理论等研究领域均有很高造诣，是澳大利亚著名的社会学专家。其研究广泛涉及马克思社会科学理论、西方马克思主义的文化批评理论。 Beilharz教授最有代表性的学术贡献是对Bernard Smith和Zygmunt Bauman的社会主义理论的研究。Beilharz教授著述颇丰，已经出版了27部专著，发表论文200余篇。
讲座摘要：
Two hundred years after the birth of Marx , there is something of a Marx revival . Many new books and events are appearing . One will be from me , a book of essays covering the years 1980 to 2015 , entitled Circling Marx .
Marxism in Australia seems sometimes to be invisible , both at home and away . We may as well be in Antarctica, talking to the penguins. We work in Australia on the periphery of the world system. Some of our work gets over the radar , including for example the work of Thesis Eleven , which I founded in Melbourne in 1980 .The work of some individuals , from archaeologist Gordon Childe to art historian Bernard Smith shines through. Australians have also contributed to Gramsci studies , from Davidson to Thomas , and to Marx studies in the work of the Budapest School in exile , especially that of Markus.
